About us

48 years of site work in the CSRA

Pave-Way of Augusta, Aiken, Inc. is a family-owned contractor working out of Augusta, Georgia and Aiken, South Carolina. Third generation, own crews, own equipment.

How the company started

Carl Bryan began paving at 22, working for the State of South Carolina, and spent eight years at W.C. Wall Construction before partnering with Jan H. Bryan to form Aiken Asphalt Paving.

In 1978 the company was renamed Pave-Way of Augusta, Aiken, and headquarters moved from Aiken to Gordon Highway in Augusta. Both offices are still open, and both still run crews.

Tripp Bryan is General Manager today, running daily operations. Jan Bryan still answers customer reviews personally. The third generation of the family is in the business now — which is a long way of saying that when something goes wrong on one of our jobs, the person you end up talking to has a last name on the truck.

What we actually do

The name says paving, and we have been paving since 1978. But asphalt is a smaller part of the work than the name suggests. Most of what we do is what happens before the surface goes down: land clearing, grubbing and stump removal, demolition, site grading, building pads, excavation, storm drainage and site utilities.

Then we finish it — concrete driveways, sidewalks and walkways, curb and gutter, parking lots, private roads, gravel and crush-and-run drives. Concrete and asphalt both, because which one belongs on a given job depends on the job.

Why that combination matters

Most contractors do one piece of a site. A grading contractor cuts the pad and leaves. A concrete contractor turns up to a base somebody else built. A paving contractor lays asphalt over drainage nobody checked. When the surface fails two winters later, each of them can point at the others.

We clear, grade, drain and then pour or pave, with our own crews at every stage. One company is responsible for the finished job. That is the whole argument, and it is the reason we do not subcontract our paving.

It is also why we replace rather than repair. A failed concrete driveway failed for a reason, and the reason is almost always underneath it. Patching the surface hides the cause for a season. We tear it out, fix the base and the drainage, and pour new.

Licensing and coverage

Pave-Way is bonded, licensed and insured in both Georgia and South Carolina for commercial and residential site work construction. We own our equipment and run our own crews, and we do our own surveying in-house.

We work Augusta, Evans, Martinez, Grovetown, Hephzibah, Aiken and North Augusta, and travel further for larger site packages.
